Eastern North Carolina National Heritage Area

Feasibility Study

Project Background

In the summer of 2010 North Carolina’s Northeast Commission in cooperation with North Carolina’s Eastern Region and North Carolina’s Southeast hired a consulting team of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Heritage Tourism Division, Hanbury Preservation Consulting, August R. Carlino, and Point Heritage Development Consulting to conduct a feasibility study for a National Heritage Area designation within the forty county service area of the three sponsoring organizations. With funding from the Golden LEAF Foundation, the consulting team will develop a feasibility study in compliance with National Park Service Guidelines.
